Lenny and Larry’s (Product Review)

cathead_mb

The people at Lenny and Larry’s were kind enough to send me samples of their super yummy protein Brownies and Complete Cookies.  These are really yummy snacks.  The brownies are super dense and rich and the cookies are the texture of Chips Ahoy Chewy Cookies.  So soft and chewy.

show_image_in_imgtag.php (1)

The only downside of these treats are that they are pretty high calorie.  One big cookie (and I mean HUGE) has 2 – 200 calorie servings with 16g of sugar each.  They are not low in sugar BUT they also don’t taste like they are low in sugar.  They are GOOD!

What I did with these, was I cut one cookie into 50 calorie bites and treated it like an after meal treat.  Or, I ate one serving size as a post workout snack.  The sugars in the cookie/brownie are quickly used by your body if you have it post workout.

I gave one of each of these treats to some members of my boot camp and they raved about them also!  I recommend checking out Lenny and Larry bars as a great post work out meal or treat!

If you order from their website they have graciously given a discount code to all of my readers for 10% off!  Just enter “LennyLarry105″ at check out to receive your discount!

Dr. Kracker’s Yummy Crackers (Giveaway Post!)

100_1969

Dr. Kracker himself sent me a whole bunch of his crackers and flat breads to try.  Ok, ok, so maybe it wasn’t actually Dr. Kracker himself.  It was probably one of his little elves.

Holy cow these crackers are so good.  They are really thick and the flavors are awesome.  My favorite flavor of the Snacker Cracker is the Fire Roasted, that has sun dried tomatoes and sesame seeds or the Cherry Semolina which is a touch sweet and so yummy!

100_1971

The flat breads stole the show at my house, though.  This little suckers have so much flavor!   Each one has 100 calories, 5 g fat, 10 g carbs and 5 g protein (perfect, right?) so I love to just grab one and eat it plain for a snack!

I have used these crackers and flat breads in a few recipes so far that I will feature soon but my favorite way to get them in my belly is with peanut butter (of course, preferably Krema peanut butter) or cheese, namely Laughing Cow light swiss cheese.  Mmmmm…. so tasty.

Dr. Kracker sent me so many packages of his yummy goodness that I want to share with all of you whom I love so dearly!  You are playing for a box of Seeded Spelt Snacker Crackers.

Here’s how you enter:

For 1 entry, leave me a comment saying your favorite way to enjoy crackers.
For another entry, become a Facebook fan of Lean Bodies Health and Fitness and leave a comment telling me you did so (or tell me if you already are)
And a final way to earn one more entry is to blog or facebook about this contest and leave me a comment telling me you did so with a link to your blog.

This contest will run until Friday March 26th at noon!  Good luck!

Ayala’s Herbal Water (Product Review)

100_1967

I try to get in a full gallon of water a day so I welcome any way to break up the monotony of that.  That’s why I was excited to find a case of Ayala’s Herbal Water in the mail the other day.

What a FUN way to drink your water!  Some of these flavors were very interesting.  The taste is very light, just as flavored water should be.  I love lemon candles so the lemon flavored ones for some reason left my senses a little confused.  But I love lemon water so I don’t know why these did that to me.  Maybe it was due to the mixture of the other herbs.  Anyway, they were all fun and different.  My favorites was the Ginger Lemon Peel (yes this had lemon but I still loved it) and the Cinnamon Orange Peel.

I recommending trying these out to see if they’re you’re thing.  They may just be what helps you get all your water in!

Tropical Traditions (Product Review)

gold_label_virgin_coconut_oil_32oz

Unless you’ve been sleeping under a rock for the last few years (no offense) you have probably heard that while Coconut Oil is a saturated fat it is really, really good for you and has TONS of health benefits.  We have been using coconut oil regularly for a while so I was thrilled when Tropical Traditions sent me this huge jar of their finest coconut oil!

For those of you who are not yet aware and ready to come out from underneath your rock (no offense again, welcome back :-)  ), some of the health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV andcancer, dental care, and bone strength.

For those of you who have been using PAM for years and afraid of using oil in your cooking, don’t be.  First of all, it’s SO good for you and you don’t need much at all.  All we use in our pans when we “fry” stuff is about 1/4 teaspoon.

Try it.  You will LOVE the light coconutty flavor.

(I was sent this product free of charge for the purpose of review).

Meet my new man…

His name is Jay Robb and he makes the most delicious protein shakes known to man.  The nice folks at Jay Robb sent me this ginormous care package the other day:

100_1941

Oh yes, that is four different bars and bunches and bunches of protein powder samples!  Holy cow talk about the best day ever!  I also got a new shaker cup (which is great because we only have one and the hubs uses it most of the time) and a HUGE reusable shopping bag which has come in handy numerous times.  I love you Jay Robb.

They call their bars the “No Junk” protein bar and they say this about them:

“I’ve raised the bar on bars and created the JayBAR—a great tasting protein bar without sugar, corn syrup, casein, artificial sweeteners, maltitol, acesulfame-K, evaporated cane juice, aspartame, or sucralose!”

JaybarSingleCC

The Cashew Coconut was by far my fave.  It was so good.  It had a light coconut flavor that blended really well with the cashews.  Very different and tasty.

Really, I liked all the bars except the peanut butter one which is weird because I usually love peanut butter flavored stuff.  I just didn’t love the taste of this one.  But the Fudge Brownie and the Yammit Energy bar (made with sweet potato bits! Fun, right?) were awesome!

I want to take more time to show you all the amazing things I have done with the protein powders because I have made up some really great shakes and pancakes with these suckers.  I am loving these powders.

bWheyVan24_200

They have some amazing flavors and they make a REALLY thick shake which I love.  I’ve been having to eat them with a spoon!  I never thought I’d like brown rice protein powder or egg white protein powder but they are great!  Just as good as the whey.  Anyway, watch for more Jay Robb recipe ideas coming soon!

(I was sent these items from the company free of charge for the purpose of review.)

Perfect Bars (Product Review)

I got to sample an AMAZING bar recently.  If you like peanut butter and honey (and who on earth doesn’t?) then you will LOVE this bar.  I am talking about the bars from Perfect Foods. It is basically like a block of peanut butter.  Really.  It is so incredibly satisfying and kept me full for hours!  Just like a big ol’ hunk of peanut butter would.  :)

100_1925

Perfect Bars have no refined sugar and are gluten and soy free.  There are 18g of protein, 26 g carbs and a satisfying 16 g fat.

They have four great flavors my favorite being either the peanut butter flavor or the Carob Chip flavor which is basically like the peanut butter one but with big chocolate chunks.  Mmmmm….  Isn’t that heavenly?

100_1926

The ONLY downside to these bars is that they pull in a big 300 calories which, for me, is kind of  a lot for a snack bar.  I usually used them for an actual MEAL replacement or I simply cut it in half for two yummy snacks.

Perfect bars get two big thumbs up from me (and my husband)!

AND DON’T FORGET TO ENTER MY GIVEAWAY FOR A WATER GEEKS WATER BOTTLE!!!!

Am I a Geek?… (GIVEAWAY POST)

I have been thinking for a long time that I really need a “cool” water bottle.  I’m not sure what I was wanting when I thought “cool” but I just wanted something other than my plastic thing that I reuse over and over until it is disgusting.  What?  You guys don’t do that?

Enter Water Geeks (dramatic music playing)

100_1915

The nice folks over at Water Geeks sent me TWO of their awesome water bottles!  (Yes, I said two… keep reading).  These bottles are awesome.  They are made with unlined 18/0, food grade stainless steel and are non-leaching and BPA-Free.  I also love that they have a wide mouth so you can easily toss ice cubes into them.  But, wait!  There’s one more amazing feature. The come with a FILTER!!!  Is that just the definition of a cool water bottle right there?  It is a tap water filter that filters chlorine, lead and other heavy metals, taste, odors and more.  And each filter lasts for up to 800 servings!  WOW!  If you can’t tell I am way excited about this product review!

There is one thing that is kind of annoying about the water bottle though and they talk about this on their site.  It is a little hard to sip.  You have to actually suck on the top as opposed to just pouring it in your mouth.  This is to be expected when sucking through a filter but I just thought I’d throw it out there.

They also let me sample some of their Supreme Stevia and Ginseng Plus products.  They are both great and fun additions to your drinks.

watergeeks_filtered_24ss_tap

Here is the best news of the day…  I have one to give away!  The giveaway is for an orange, 12 oz bottle with removable filter.  There are a few different ways you can enter.

For one entry, leave me a comment telling me how many cups of water you drink in a day.  NO LYING!!! :-)

For two entries, post about this giveaway on your blog or on facebook and leave a comment with the link.

For three entries, go to their website and look at the “Learn” section of their sidebar and tell me one new thing you learned about water.

I will put all the entries into a spreadsheet and use a random number generator to choose the winner.  You have until Tuesday March 2nd at noon to enter!  Good luck!

So, go ahead and enter.  All the cool Geeks are doing it.

(Disclaimer:  The company sent me this product free of charge to review but that does not affect my opinion of this product.)

Skinny Water found at your local Target!

100_1907

I got this huge fun box of Skinny Water in the mail the other day!  Talk about make my day!  I have seen skinny water at Target but I had never tried it so I was excited to give it a taste!

Here’s a little info first.  Skinny water has no calories, no sugar, and other crave-controlling and metabolism-boosting ingredients.  There are six flavors:

Crave Control:  Raspberry Pomegranate

XXX-Detox:  Peach Mango Manderin

Hi-Energy:  Acai Grape Bluberry

Total-V:  Lemonade Passionfruit

Shape:  Goji Fruit Punch

Wake Up:  Orange Cranberry Tangerine

100_1908

I LOVE these waters!  They are just that.  Flavored water.  They aren’t as sweet and flavorful as a punch or crystal light.  Some might call them too weak.  But I liked the light flavor.  My favorite flavor was the Lemonade Passionfruit.  Mmmm.. That was some yummy stuff.  I know you all see the Crave Control and wonder if after drinking I magically didn’t want chocolate anymore.  Well, you know me, I always want some chocolate but it did fill me up for a while.  Whether that is due to drinking two cups of liquid or their special SuperCitrimax and ChromeMate+EGCG, I have no idea.

These drinks are just $1.49 and are sold all over the place like Target, Walgreens and other national retailers.  I think this would be a great thing to either stock up on and have at home or to pick up if you’re thirsty while running errands!

(Skinny Water sent me samples for the purpose of review free of charge.  This in no way influenced my review.)
