Tip of the day to help you get your protein in:
Always have hard boiled eggs on hand! Â They are portable, tasty and packed full of protein! Â Smash it up “kid-style” with spray butter and salt or just peel it and eat with your hand. Â What can get any easier than that, right?

These bars are brought to you by way of the fabulous Jamie Eason. Â She has the most fabulous protein bar recipes that she posts on Bodybuilding.com.
I have tried quite a few of them lately but this one is by far my fave. Â These only have 90 calories per square! Â Check out the nutritionals at the bottom. Â They are sweet.
Dry ingredients:
- 1 cup oat flour (or blend 1 1/4 c. oats in a blender to make flour)
- 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
- 1/4 t. salt
- 1/2 t. baking soda
- 1 tub of crystal light lemonade powder (2 qt size)
Wet ingredients:
- 4 egg whites
- 8 oz applesauce
- 4 oz water
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Â Put all the dry ingredients into a bowl and mix well (or I blend them in my blender). Â In a separate bowl mix the wet ingredients (or blend in blender). Â Mix the two mixtures together and pour into an 8×8 pan. Â Cook for about 23 minutes.
Nutritional info (1/9 of recipe): Â 91 cals; 1g fat; 13 g carb; 8 g protein

Something that gets me through long cardio workouts (and to me long is anything over 30 minutes or so! Â Ha!) is to combine different modes of cardio into one session. Â Here are some ideas of how to do that:
- 15 minutes on each of the bike, treadmill and elliptical
- Biking 10 miles and then running 3 miles outside
- 20 minutes hill climb on the treadmill, 15 min jog on treadmill, 10 min stair mill, 5 min rower
- Ok, this one is crazy, but I’ve done it! Â Get out 4 exercise videos and do 15 minutes of each one!
I hope these ideas make your cardio workouts go by even faster!

Here are some fish ‘n’ chips that are Lindsey approved!
Start with slicing a sweet potato into french fry like strips. Â Spray the cookie sheet and spread out your fries in an even layer. Â Spray the fries with non stick spray and sprinkle with salt. Â Bake at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes stirring and flipping half way through. Â Watch these though. Â They can burn quickly at the end!
Meanwhile, thaw your fish (I use tilapia). Â Beat an egg in one bowl and put some italian bread crumbs in another. Â Dip the fish in the egg and then the bread crumbs to coat the fish. Â ”Fry” the fish on the stove in non stick spray or 1/2 T. coconut oil until cooked through, flipping every 5 minutes or so.
To make this uber healthy, bread the fish for the rest of the fam, but don’t bread your fillets! Â Just sprinkle your favorite seasonings on and enjoy the same food as your family is having!

The wonderful people at Coach’s Oats sent me a bunch of packets of their steel cut oats to sample. Â If you aren’t familiar with the difference between steel cut oats and regular rolled oats go to this page of their website to be enlightened.
Coach’s Oats are prepared differently than regular steel cut oats. Â Their website says:
COACH’S OATS are prepared in an entirely new way. The groats are toasted to bring the natural sugars to the surface of the oat, then cracked into small pieces. This patented Cracked n’ Toastedâ„¢ process means that Coach’s Oats are never mushy, always naturally delicious and cook in just five minutes on a stovetop or in the microwave.
Let me tell you, you guys. Â These are so good. Â They are chewy and a little bit crunchy and have a great natural flavor without adding anything to them! Â You know I like my oatmeal sweet but these don’t need any flavor enhancing at all. Â I love them. Â They aren’t even expensive, either. Â Go here to purchase 70 (YES 70!) servings for less than 10 bucks! Â I know! Â Awesome deal.
Let me know if you try them and love them as much as I do. Â I will be investing in these oats from now on!
I was sent these samples free of charge for the purpose of review.

Here is a basic oatmeal recipe without all the bells and whistles of my usual oatmeals. Â (It’s not much to look at I know…) Â But, this is a great tasting recipe when you are trying to stick to clean, wholesome foods.
In a big bowl combine:
- 1/3 c. oats
- 2/3 c. water
- 2 egg whites
- 1/2 scoop protein powder
- 2 T. any flavor Da Vinci or Torani sugar free syrups
Whisk with a fork really hard to beat the egg whites. Â Microwave for about 3 minutes or until cooked to your desired consistency. Â Top with milk if desired.
See, easy peasy.
